Support Services

TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Institute (WSI) provides the framework to help you achieve your study and career goals by taking into account your individual learning needs.

We offer flexible learning that allows you to mix’n’match attending class with distance learning or studying online. This means that you can undertake components of study through our distance education centre – the Open Training and Education network (OTEN) and learn through face-to-face class contact with other students and teachers at the same time.

Study Help

If you are experiencing study difficulties, you might like to consider talking to a Counsellor. Our Counsellors provide a free and confidential service to people studying or thinking about studying in TAFE NSW. The sessions are informal and you will be listened to without judgement or pressure.

Indigenous Students

Support is available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people seeking access to vocational education and training within TAFE NSW.

We offer a wide range of courses to Aboriginal students including general education and vocational programs. Aboriginal students are supported by the Aboriginal Managers and Aboriginal Student Support Officers, who can advise prospective and enrolled students on course and career selections and provide information on other support services available in the community.

Our Disability Consultants for students with hearing, neurological/learning, physical/medical, mental health and vision disabilities provide a range of services to students in all Colleges, including:

Multicultural Education Services

We offer many programs and services aimed to help people from language backgrounds other than English, access education and vocational training opportunities, leading to employment.

Our Multicultural Community Engagement Officers can advise on suitable course selection, multicultural policies, translation and interpreting services, recognition of overseas qualifications, temporary residents eligibility to study TAFE NSW courses and referral to community support agencies.
